28th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Nuclear Medicine Technology Meeting Chairman: Toshikazu Sammiya The 28th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Nuclear Medicine Technology is being held at Makuhari Messe (International Convention Complex), Chiba City, from October 24 - 26, 2008. This year we join with the 48th Annual Meeting of the Society of Nuclear Medicine (President, Yoshiharu Yonekura, MD. Ph.D.) The main theme is the “Time for Harmonization and Fusion”. The “Integration” of functional diagnostic equipment and configuration diagnostic equipment such as PET/CT and SPECT/CT, and the “Collaboration” of physicians, technologists, medical or instrumental engineers and pharmacists mark the “Beginning” for the development of nuclear medicine in future. The sub-theme refers to “From Molecules to Human”. It implies that diagnosis and treatment at the cellular and gene level leveraged by nuclear medicine should be extended to human health. Dr. Yonekura, President of JSNM, and I have planned programs including special lectures, symposiums, educational lectures, forum for international exchange and instrumental product exhibitions along the lines of the main and sub themes. Both annual meetings are held at the same place, and then all participants can freely attend all programs. The meeting venue, “Makuhari Messe” is one of the big leading convention centers in Asia (http://www.m-messe.co.jp/index_e.html). It is conveniently located halfway between central Tokyo and the New Tokyo International Airport (Narita Airport). The airport can be reached by bus or car in 30 minutes. Tokyo Station is also only 30 minutes away by train. International Event or Exhibition such as the Tokyo Motor Show has been held at the same area. The venue is also close to the Chiba Marine Baseball Stadium, as well as Tokyo Disney Land and Disney Sea. We are looking forward to seeing you and your family there.
